Low - Cracker - Kerosene Hat (CD, Album)

Tracks 16 to 99 are not mentioned on sleeve nor label. Produced for Moondog Productions Recorded February 25 to Ma at The Soundstage, Pioneertown, CA, which was built by the band, manager, producer, and Pappy Allen from February 21 to Febru.

Kerosene Hat is David Lowery's least affected album yet -- its humor is no stranger than "Dead Flowers" by the Stones or "Fat Man in a Bathtub" by Little Feat, two groups that Cracker strongly recall throughout the album. Kerosene Hat is more blues- and country-based than their debut, but it sounds natural, since their songwriting has improved and they've grown tighter as a unit. ~ Stephen Thomas Brand: Imports.

This is the hit that put their album Kerosene Hat on the charts and Cracker on the world stage of alternative music. As can be glimpsed in the video, the album Kerosene Hat was recorded at a sound stage built in an old barn in Pioneertown, California. This is close to where lead singer David Lowery first met guitarist Johnny Hickman.

 · Kerosene Hat, Cracker’s second album, is a nicely focused collection that opens with one of the band’s most brilliant songs. “Low” not only nicely deflates the relationship in question (“To be with you girl is like being low”) but also cleverly patterns itself after Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with its sparse guitar.
